Career Chats: Preparing for work in the Creative Industries

with Goldsmiths, Falmouth, UK university alumni and other speakers

We’re delighted to invite students from Europe who are interested in studying creative subjects in the UK to attend a webinar about how a UK higher education can prepare you for working in the Creative Industries.

This webinar is part of a series called ‘Career Chats with Study UK‘. Each event focuses on a different sector.

The event will be held online on Monday 12 December, 17.00 – 18.00 CET. Students will hear from sector representatives, UK universities and European alumni of UK universities. We will discuss what the Creative Industries actually are, the types of skills and qualifications you need to work in them, and how UK universities can support you in this endeavour.

We will share the webinar joining link 24 hours prior to the event.

Here is a unique opportunity to see students become global change agents & to let you re-imagine a sustainable future for our planet under the guidance of a University of California, Los Angeles instructor. 

 

We are selecting only 20 exceptional students aspiring to become Sustainability Change Makers from top educational institutions from around the world to participate in a first of its kind program in collaboration with UCLA Extension.

Sustainability Change Makers by UCLA Extension:

An intensive 6-week program beginning 4th February 2023, gives students an opportunity to learn about sustainability and explore the foundation for the study of interdisciplinary sustainability. Students will receive a basic understanding of environmental systems and the interrelationship and effect of humans on the environment. Students will be introduced to a variety of topics such as the history of sustainability, the impact of environmental issues, tools to investigate sustainability, the future of sustainability and much more. Students will be taught through a combination of lectures and interactive group activities with a global network of like-minded peers. At the end of the program, students will have successfully understood sustainable change and the tools they require to implement the same.

We are looking for students that are seeking to understand the framework of sustainability and are striving to create environmental impact.

 

What Will Students Gain?

  • Increased knowledge of the definition and vast fields within sustainability
  • Acquired critical thinking skills to reason, question the current state of the world, and debate with peers about sustainability matters
  • Apply the acquired knowledge and skills to evaluate, determine individual beliefs and future ways to impact their own world and global community in positive ways
  • Record of Participation from UCLA Extension
  • Certificate from Learn with Leaders

The program is highly exclusive and will host only 20 students from across the world. Furthermore, we are offering a 40% scholarship to early applicants upon confirmation of their selection.

Program Duration: 6 weeks

Program Start Date: 4th February

Application Eligibility: Grades 8th – 12th

Early Application Deadline: 25th December 2022

Early Application Fee: USD 1200

Regular Application Deadline: 15th January 2023

Regular Application Fee: USD 2000

Avalon Apparel is looking for social media savvy Gen-Zers interested in all things fashion, pop-culture, and trends to join its National Fashion Board. Avalon Apparel is a full-service women‘s apparel design house based in Los Angeles that designs and produces private label garments sold at some of America‘ s largest retailers including Nordstrom, Macy’s, and Target. Estimated time commitment is roughly 5-10 hours per month (all online). Internship is unpaid and not for academic credit but offers the opportunity to network across the functions of design, merchandising, sales, and production to teach students more about careers within the retail merchandising ecosystem. Interested students should email kelsey@avalonapparel.com with their resume attached.
