Unleashing Adventure at Oktoberfest

The flashing lights, fast turns, and sweet smell in the air is the Oktoberfest . Every year on the second to last Saturday of September at noon, the ribbon gets cut and the Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany has started. The annual festival lasts roughly around 2 weeks and it is filled with over 80 rides.

The rides at the Oktoberfest are some of the most fun and most memorable things to experience there. We asked  2 students and 1 staff member from MIS for recommendations on their favorite Oktoberfest rides, for a complete guide to the next Oktoberfest from a variety of different ages.

Andrew S., Grade 6, said that his favorite Oktoberfest ride was the Alpina Bahn. The Alpina Bahn in a huge rollercoaster with sharp turns and high drops that take your breath away. Andrew said that he and his friends found the ride exciting. Even though Andrew said that he enjoyed the ride a lot, he said it made him super nervous before he went on it. At the end, he was filled with a proud feeling once the ride was over.

“Next year at the Oktoberfest, everyone should definetly go on this ride at least once,” Andrew said.

Isabella D., Grade 9, had her first Oktoberfest experience this season. She said that for her first year, the most memorable ride was the XXL Racer. She said she was feeling anxious before the ride but ended up loving it after. She said she would definitely recommend this ride for new comers at the Octoberfest next year.

“You could see the whole Wiesn from the top of the ride,” Isabella said.

Mr.Lemmers, a PHE teacher, said his favorite rides from the Oktoberfest was either the Break Dance or the Flip Fly. He said that his own daughters “forced” him to go on the Flip Fly which caused some nerves but ended up being a lot of fun. He did said that some negative aspects were that the Flip Fly hurt his neck a lot from all the turns, but he said he would enjoy going on these rides again.

“I would want everyone to go on these rides because they are such fun experiences,” Mr. Lemmers said.

Even if you are too scared or just simply don’t enjoy the rides at the Oktoberfest, most people find the excitement of the Oktoberfest season flows through people all over the world.
