Emigrating Marist Our Community

Marist College invite students to their upcoming Virtual International Day Information Session taking place Thursday, November 19. There are a number of time slots students may choose from corresponding diffrent regions of the world.

 

Register today to learn more about life at Marist from students who reside outside of the US. Did you know that less than half of Marist students are from New York, with 47 states and 64 countries are represented in our student body?
Here’s what they can expect during our upcoming Virtual International Day Information Session:

 

  • Get to know more about Martis by contacting Joe Giacalone, the Marist College admission counselor. Students from around the world who attend Marist through their live Q&A where students can learn more about experiences at Marist, or Joe Giacalone who can answer any questions you might have about submitting a Marist application, life as a Red Fox, and more!
  • Learn about 90 majors, minors, and concentrations and how students can utilize our Center for Career Services to explore career and internship resources, graduate school advisement, job search preparation, and much more.
  • Explore 70+ short-term, semester, and academic year abroad programs to help students enhance their global perspective and create memories to last a lifetime, all while working towards their degree.
  • Discover different opportunities for real-world experience including internships, student-faculty collaborative research, and access to advanced technology. Almost 85% of Marist students complete at least one internship, with many completing two or more!

Joint European Campus Open Day

Webster Leiden Campus is happy to share another upcoming event with you.  Webster is joining with their Campuses in Geneva, Switzerland and Vienna, Austria to bring students a Virtual European Open House on November 12th.  This unique opportunity will allow you to become more familiar with 3 of Webster’s European campuses at the same time.  Admissions Officers will be available to answer questions and a current student from each location will share a brief presentation.  For more information, feel free to contact Erica Wagner the recruitment and admissions officer for the Webster community by email.

Les Roches would like to remind students of their ongoing and exciting series of Masterclasses to discover, in more depth, future career opportunities offered by the global experience economy. There are five different themes, from luxury, entrepreneurship and digital marketing to hospitality business management, event management and branding. Any or all could open new professional perspectives for students.

Summer Programs 2021

Les Roches planning for the year ahead includes re-establishing their portfolio of Summer Programs, which were badly missed by both faculty and our young participants this year. Find out more about Summer programs for 2021 at Glion or Les Roches 

All programs are fortunately still being taught in a face-to-face environment. But for those that have not made it to campus yet or would need to quarantine they have developed a blended learning option. The Glion Connect & Les Roches Connect programs are a state-of-the-art approach to ‘virtual’ study. Les Roches mixes live online tutorials and demonstrations, videos, one-to-one coaching and mentoring, plus interactive games and challenges & even extra-curricular activities!

Applications to Utrecht University have opened!

The application period for the 2021-2022 academic year opened at the beginning of the month. Utrecht University are advising students to apply as early as possible! You can find the entry requirements, required documents, and application deadlines on the website of specific programmes students might be interested in. General information about applying for Utrecht University can be found here.

There are some scholarships available. However, keep in mind that the deadlines for many scholarships can be earlier than the programme’s deadlines. You can find more information about the scholarships and eligibility here.

Various dates There are plenty of other ways to get to know us; we take part in many international fairs and webinars organized by third parties, and we also organize their own webinars.

 

Application and Admission

  • From now on Studielink is step 1 in the application process, and this leads students to Osiris, where they can upload their documents.
  • Not new but still important to know: our Psychology program has Numerus Fixus. This means the application deadline is January 15, and students have to complete an online test as part of the application procedure.
  • For all other programs, the application deadline is May 1, but Tilburg strongly encourage students to submit applications earlier than that, as applications will be processed faster when we receive them earlier in the year.

 

Tilburg University Covid response

  • On March 11, the uni switched almost overnight to fully online education
  • Tilburg are currently still offering all our programs online; a group of students who are unable to travel to the Netherlands are attending university from their home country
  • There are some on-campus activities especially for the first year students, in small groups and with safe distance
  • Also in the second semester Tilburg guarantee that all education will be offered online. If the situation permits, we will also continue offering small scale on-campus activities for the first year students.

Minerva Community – October News

The Minerva Baccalaureate program builds upon the best in modern high school education by focusing on cross-course learning, application of concepts, and multi-dimensional skill development. The program is designed to integrate with existing high school curricula, helping institutions increase differentiation and improve overall learning outcomes.

Minerva welcomed a new Master of Decision Analysis (MDA) cohort at Convocation, where MDA Head Instructor and professor Casey Saenger encouraged students to advance both their professional lives and society at large.        Read his comments

University of Edinburgh – October 2020

Virtual Open Days:

The University of Edinburgh looks forward to welcoming students to their Undergraduate Open Days, which will be taking place online this year. These Virtual Open Days will take place on:

  • Saturday 21 November, 10am – 4pm
  • Friday 27 November, 10am – 4pm

Booking for these events will open soon and will let prospective students on the mailing lists know by email when registration goes live. These events are a great opportunity for students to speak live with academic staff as well as current students to learn more about what it’s like to live and learn here at Edinburgh.

In the meantime, Edinburgh continues to run regular ‘Introduction to the University of Edinburgh‘ sessions which provide an 1-hour overview of what it’s like to study there and the opportunity to ask questions.

 

Upcoming Virtual Exhibitions:

The University of Edinburgh is excited to be participating in a number of upcoming virtual exhibitions throughout October and November including the British Council’s first ever online Study UK event.

In November the University of Edinburgh is attending all the scheduled UCAS virtual exhibitions, including the UCAS Teachers Conference aimed at teachers and advisers. Each UCAS exhibition is based around a certain theme, with exhibitions taking place on different days at different times.

The events we will be attending in October include:

  • UCAS (Biological and Physical Sciences) on Friday, 16th October from 10:00-16:00 (BST)
  • British Council Study UK: Gateway to Europe from 19th October until 13th November
  • UCAS (social sciences, humanities & teaching) on Friday 23rd October and Saturday 24th October from 10:00-16:00 (BST)

The November exhibitions are:

  • UCAS (Maths, Engineering and Computing), on Monday 2nd November and Tuesday 3rd November from 7am to 8pm (BST)
  • UCAS (Creative Subjects), on Friday 13th November and Saturday 14th November from 10am to 4pm (BST)
  • UCAS (Teacher Conference), on Monday 16th November from 9am to 4pm (BST)
