A group of students decided to interview the candidates for the student council (9th grade) after the results came back to find out more about them and what they will bring to our school this year.
“Don’t Listen to Mischa. I Am Better Than Him.”
By Anea E., Kate B., Grade 9
An interview with David C. one of three newly elected grade nine student representatives
David C. or Davy Gravy, as a classmate in fourth grade once called him, is one of the three selected grade nine student representatives.
He joined MIS in the middle of sixth grade. Throughout those years, he carried the role of being one of the smart kids, but what a lot of people don’t know about him is that he cannot tell you the months of the year. For example, if you were to ask him what the 10th month of the year is, he would have to go on and google the answer.
Another thing about David is that he does not like it when people put their feet on a table or chair, even though he does it himself. But he is also very basic in the way that he likes to grab himself a pizza, turn on his favorite show what his favorite show?, sit down and just fully relax.
Being on the student council is not David’s first role that he has taken on, as he joined the student council in his old school in the fourth grade and became student council president.
This meant that running to be a grade representative was an easy choice and one he felt confident in.
He ran to be a representative because he would like more experience of being a leader, and wants to make changes also to his college applications.
When talking about the other candidates, he thought that the three selected had put the most effort in but the student that sadly did not make the cut, was Jordan T., who could have made it with some more effort. When talking about his already standing relationship with the others selected, he said he already knows them, and they have a good relationship.
“Everyone is fit to be a leader. Everyone wants to be a leader,” he said.
He also mentioned that a big goal of his is that he wants to change the situation with the cafeteria and the kiosk.
Afterword’s when being confronted with question regarding the running of girls he said that he had actually tried to persuade girls not to run because if a girl runs, him and others wouldn’t stand a chance. But he also thought that it should not be mandatory because they don’t want to force people, but he thinks more girls should run. But when talking about more equal representation and making it so there is at least one girl and one boy as a representative, he said he ‘’disagrees because it doesn’t best represent the student body, since she might not have gotten all the votes. ‘’
His final word to not only grade 9 but the whole senior school, is “Don’t listen to Mischa. I am better than him.”
