Imagine going  France with you best friends during summer. This is what happened when MIS students in French class went on a full week trip to France on May 13.

”This French trip strengthened my bond with my Friends,” said Lavina S., grade 9.

The 9th grade French students state that the trip helped them to bond with each other further. , Ms. Casado, the French teacher supports this idea:  “It helped me to bond with my students”.

The week spent together not only strengthened their bonds but also transformed their perspectives on the subject, creating a memorable and impactful experience for everyone involved. They started to see French more like a language than a subject after seeing the country. The students had so much fun as well as also learning life lessons and seeing that French is not all about the grammar and spelling, it is also about the culture and the glamour of the language.

The students describe their French trip as “full of freedom”.

“We tried to make students feel free and let them explore the French -culture,” said Ms. Casado.

She added that the students where intentionally set free and unsupervised at certain times. This was important for foster the connection between the language and the students because they were not forced to do anything.

“They weren’t any language barriers,” said Lavinia S.

The students enjoyed the trip and said they did not come across language barriers because they learned how to describe their problems in France. This also gave them the freedom to express themselves in the country. The lessons and the exploring were perfectly balanced. The students had lessons in the morning and the rest of the day to enjoy the culture.

During the trip the students where mesmerized by the glamorous culture of France.

“I really enjoyed visiting the villas,” said Paula B.

The historical buildings really impressed all the student. The French teacher said, “When l was planning this trip l made sure to keep it fun but add a little bit of history so that my students can also have an idea about the culture.”

To keep the students’ interest, they did not visit too many historical buildings; but it was important that they went to the cultural places to also have an idea about the past of the country. By combining their knowledge about the culture and the language, the students could enjoy learning about the language even more.
