Homework. Some like it and some do not. Some find it useful. Some find it a waste of time.

Some teachers enjoy giving homework. However, some have different opinions, they may not send as much homework or they may not send any at all, and they trust in their own work and in their own job.

“Homework can be helpful; however, students work so hard during the day that I think that it is an overload to do work at home as well,” Middle School EAL Teacher Ms. Tousignant said.

In MIS, most kids get stressed because of homework and tests. Teachers cannot sense when kids are overwhelmed with 6 tests in a week.

“I sort of enjoy homework. It prepares me for some of the learning challenges but when there is too much I am overwhelmed.” Adam H., Grade 9.

Homework is useful but is also sometimes too much because some things might be happening in their personal life or even too many tests.

“I enjoy homework, because I am organised, and I don’t procrastinate. Also, I do my homework when it is set and not last minute, making my sleep effective and overall, I work effectively.” Frederik N., Grade 9.

What does this student do to stay organised about his/her homework? What is their system?

Overall, organisation leads to good grades good sleep and a better day, however if teachers teach in lessons, and students work hard during the lesson, homework is not needed.

“Homework is a useful tool that helps students learn and improve their abilities. However sometimes there is too much” Seva I., Grade 9
